Think of Brazil and most likely the Amazon jungle is one of the first images that springs to mind. And that’s no surprise. Covering around half of the country, the Amazon is one of the most famous destinations not only in Brazil, but in the whole of South America.
Despite occupying such a vast area, the Amazon is only home to around 10% of Brazil’s population. Some of these are indigenous tribes, whose remote locations leave them disconnected from the rest of the world. However, the majority live in cities such as Manaus, Belem and Santarem.

Located in the center of the Brazilian Amazon, Manaus is the largest city in the region and home to approximately 2 million people. The city itself is worth spending a little time in before you begin your Amazonian adventure. Manaus acts as the main tourist hub and gateway to the Brazilian Amazon.Situated close to the incredibly diverse Central Amazon Biosphere, Manaus offers the quickest and easiest access to the jungle.

The program of the activities depends on the selected lodge: Amazon Ecopark Jungle Lodge.
MONKEY FOREST: The facilities for rehabilitation and re-introduction of wild animals in their habitat (known as the Monkey forest), was created in 1991 with the intention of receiving animals that have been confiscated from illegal commerce. This is a joint project with the Municipal Secretary of Environment and Sustainability. In this center, the animals are initially put into quarantine to be evaluated and taken care of by a team of veterinaries and biologists. The Monkey Forest is open to guests at feeding times, always accompanied by a credentialed professional, permitting guests to film and photograph these animals in a natural and safe environment.
Duration: 40 minutes to 1 hour. Time is approximate.
Note: Twice a year the monkeys move away for 2-3 weeks to travel through the forest and demarcate their land. During this period will not be possible to see the monkeys, only the ones in quarantine.Overnight stay at the selected lodge.

Night Tour in Canoe: Depart the lodge in paddle or motorized canoes, to appreciate the sounds of the jungle at night, with the possibility to spot small alligators (or other nightly creatures). The alligator will then be safely released back into the river. (No harm is done to any of the animals)
