Day 2
Lucerne
Today after breakfast in the hotel a fun day in snow and ice is yours to explore!
You’ll be driven to Engelberg the base for a mountain excursion up Mt. Titlis. Reach the top in the Rotair, the world’s first rotating gondola. You’ll be treated to idyllic panoramic views of steep rock faces and distant mountains. Later, ride the Ice Flyer to the crevasses Be sure to cast your eyes down into the impressive glacier world below as you are swept smoothly and safely over crisp, virgin snow fields and icy depths. Some of the crevasses are up to twenty metres deep. This is a fantastic glacier experience.
Once back on terra firma walk through the Ice Grotto which can be easily accessed via a corridor from Level 1 of the TITLIS mountain station. The cave's 150-metre-long walkway descends ten metres below the surface of the glacier. Exploring the glacier cave is a cool experience. The temperature inside the cave remains a frosty -1.5?C.
Bathed in a dim turquoise-blue light the air is so cold that tiny white clouds appear when you breathe. The ice here is up to 5,000 years old.
Return to Lucerne for a short orientation tour. You’ll visit the iconic Lion monument – a rock relief in Lucerne and the famous Kapellbrücke (literally, Chapel Bridge) a covered wooden footbridge spanning the river Reuss. Named after the nearby St. Peter's Chapel, the bridge is unique in containing a number of interior paintings dating back to the 17th century, although many of them were destroyed in a 1993 fire. Subsequently restored, the Kapellbrücke is the oldest wooden covered bridge in Europe, as well as the world's oldest surviving truss bridge. It serves as the city's symbol and as one of Switzerland's main tourist attractions.

There are 344 steps to reach the viewing deck – but the wonderful panorama from the Old City to the peaks of the Bernese Oberland is absolutely worth it.
Take a stroll down the world’s longest shopping promenade – Marketgasse. Ateliers, boutiques, and quaint shops – one-of-a-kind treasures await below the famous arcades and in the characteristic vaulted cellars of Bern’s Old City, turning every shopping trip into a unique experience.

Climb aboard the train once more and descend to the Lauterbrunnen Valley, where you visit the magnificent Trümmelbach Falls, a natural UNESCO World heritage site.
